What Can You Expect From This Live Program

Canada's mining environmental regulations are intricate and multifaceted, with a complex interplay of federal, provincial, and territorial regulations. This multi-layered system can create overlapping or even conflicting rules, making it challenging for mining companies to navigate the legal landscape. Furthermore, different federal and provincial agencies are responsible for enforcing various aspects of mining environmental regulations, which can create additional confusion and complexity, making it difficult for mining operations to remain compliant with the relevant legislation.

This certified program will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the complex and dynamic mining environmental regulations in Canada at both the federal and provincial/territorial levels. You will learn a wide range of critical topics, including the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA), Canadian Impact Assessment Act (IAA), the Fisheries Act, the Metal and Diamond Mining Effluent Regulations (MDMER), the Species at Risk Act (SARA), and province-specific mining environmental regulations, providing you with a well-rounded understanding of the legal landscape governing mining operations. This program will also highlight different provincial and territorial environmental laws, focusing on their unique aspects and the nuances in implementation, and help you understand the interplay between federal and provincial/territorial regulations.

In addition, this program will teach you how to create and implement environmental management systems (EMS) in line with the relevant legislation, as well as how to conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and develop mine closure and reclamation plans that comply with regulatory requirements. Additionally, the program will provide insights into Indigenous rights engagement, public consultations, and the latest strategies for developing sustainable mine closure and rehabilitation plans.

With a solid understanding of Canada's mining environmental regulations and compliance requirements, you can then integrate best practices into your organization's environmental management strategy, ensuring a legally compliant and environmentally responsible mining operation.

Upon successfully completing the program, you will earn the Certification in Canadian Mining Environmental Regulations and Compliance. This certification will elevate your professional standing and demonstrate your expertise in the Canadian mining environmental regulatory framework, as well as in implementing effective compliance strategies that ensure adherence to environmental standards in the mining sector.
