Fully Accredited Program Certified Hospital Public Health and Emergency Preparedness Leader (CHPC™)

Healthcare emergencies are growing more frequent, more complex, and more disruptive, placing unprecedented pressure on hospitals and health systems worldwide. Last year alone, the World Health Organization coordinated responses to 51 graded health emergencies across 89 countries and territories, while more than 89 million people required life-saving care through humanitarian health responses. The message for every hospital is clear: emergency preparedness, incident command, and business continuity are no longer optional—they are the difference between safe, uninterrupted care and dangerous disruption when a crisis strikes.

This live program gives you a comprehensive command of hospital public health and emergency preparedness, equipping you with the practical expertise to lead healthcare organizations across the entire emergency management lifecycle. You will learn to develop Emergency Operations Plans (EOPs), conduct Hazard Vulnerability Assessments (HVAs), and classify emergency incidents—so you can identify risks, prioritize threats, and put effective preparedness strategies in place before emergencies occur. The program strengthens your capabilities in Hospital Incident Command Systems (HICS), Hospital Coordination Center operations, and escalation protocols, giving you the confidence to establish clear command structures, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and make timely, decisive calls during complex incidents.

You will gain practical expertise in mass casualty management, surge capacity planning, and advanced triage systems, enabling you to optimize patient flow, manage resource constraints, and sustain high-quality care during major emergencies. You will also build capabilities in infectious disease preparedness, pandemic response, and public health emergency coordination—so you can manage outbreaks decisively, direct rapid response teams, and integrate hospital operations with the wider public health system.

By the end, you will have worked through CBRNe and HAZMAT preparedness, business continuity planning, and recovery operations—equipping you to protect staff and patients, keep essential services running through disruption, and build resilient organizations through continuous improvement, after-action reviews, and simulation-based exercises.

On successful completion, you will attain the Certified Hospital Public Health and Emergency Preparedness Leader (CHPC™) designation. This globally recognized credential validates your expertise in hospital emergency preparedness, public health emergency management, and organizational resilience—elevating your professional credibility and positioning you to lead preparedness and response initiatives across healthcare organizations.

What Can You Expect From This Live Program

Hospital public health and emergency preparedness is mission-critical, because hospitals are often the last line of defense when disasters, outbreaks, or infrastructure failures strike. Yet the evidence reveals persistent gaps: CMS reported that 41% of hospitals surveyed were cited for emergency preparedness deficiencies, and nearly 28% of all facilities received at least one EP citation. The best-performing hospitals close these gaps by hardwiring plans, drills, backup power, and surge capacity into daily operations—rather than treating preparedness as a paperwork exercise.

This certified program equips you with the practical expertise to lead hospital emergency preparedness and public health response across the full emergency management lifecycle. Using internationally recognized frameworks and realistic scenarios, you will learn to prepare for, manage, and recover from complex emergencies while strengthening organizational resilience. You will master how to develop Emergency Operations Plans (EOPs), conduct Hazard Vulnerability Assessments (HVAs), and establish effective Hospital Incident Command Systems (HICS)—building a coordinated, structured response capability your organization can rely on.

This program also strengthens your ability to classify incidents, manage hospital command structures, allocate critical resources, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams under pressure. You will gain hands-on expertise in mass casualty management, surge capacity planning, patient flow optimization, and infectious disease and pandemic response, so your hospital can maintain safe, effective, and continuous care during major incidents. You will also work through CBRNe and HAZMAT preparedness, business continuity planning, recovery operations, and post-incident improvement—equipping your organization to sustain critical services and continuously raise its emergency response capability.

On completing the program and passing the Chartered exam, you will earn the Certified Hospital Public Health and Emergency Preparedness Leader (CHPC™) designation—a credential that demonstrates your expertise in hospital emergency preparedness, public health emergency management, and healthcare resilience, and positions you to lead preparedness, crisis response, and resilience initiatives across hospitals, health systems, public health agencies, humanitarian organizations, and emergency management institutions worldwide.
